Radio station comments (92.7 FM)

The radio station 92.7 FM that I blogged about is live and playing some decent music. They’re still in survey mode and link to a massive 1000-song questionnaire for people to fill out.

My previous post is also generating a bunch of comments; amusingly, a bunch of those people seem to think that I’m somehow affiliated with the radio station. Sorry, folks, no such luck. Here’s the comment I posted in response:

While I like getting lots of comments here for this, I’d like to remind everybody that this site (Hack Bend) is just a blog and the ACTUAL radio station site is linked in the post: http://www.927fmradio.com/

I don’t actually have anything to do with the station, nor do I influence what music they play. 😉

I listened to a bit of the new station today in the car and so far I like what I hear. My wife, also. What does everybody else think?

  1. I really like the station so far, and it was so nice to not have to wade through all the singers that make me want to shoot people.

I really miss KUFO and NRK out of Portland, and now I can finally hear some music that I like, and I won’t have to fight with my husband over radio stations.

  2. Gee, Wendy… which singers are those?? I miss NRK too… but the last time I was in that area it sounded like they changed their format a bit. I will check out 92.7!

  3. they say they play indie rock but all their artist are major label except bloc party. they sound like 104.1

  4. I really don’t think they sound like 104.1 at all so far. Maybe some of the songs, but if they bring out Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer like 104.1, I’ll cry.

  5. Please make sure to be active and engaged with this radio station. 92/7FM is being constructed by listener interaction. The first step was receiving your survey comments prior to the launch. Presently, the play list is being aired in alphabetical order so you can vote for the songs at 927fmradio.com. Vote…offer music suggestions… put our ear on local and regional artists… but please don’t stop there. Please email Program Director, Mike Flanagan and build the personality of this radio station with him as well. He wants to hear from you. Encourage others to do the same. You can find his email address at the web site.

  6. I think the station is great. It’s about time we got some good rock on the radio in central oregon. I work in construction and have heard 92.7 on a few jobsite radios so far.

  7. I love this station. Finally, Bend has a radio station that is eclectic in music, it’s about time! It makes my work place and driving a lot nicer.
Thank you and please don’t leave Bend!

  11. Your Music rocks, but you should play some Static-X,Trap,Saliva,P.O.D.Papa Roach, Disturbed you know the good stuff.

  12. WE NEED THIS!!! Finally a decent radio station here. They need all the support they can get so they can get advertising money incoming. Tell all your friends and families to check out their website.

  13. Keep up the good work …play no hit singles, pleeze……..torture by bubble gum is not good.

More Seattle music, nu wave and heavymetal .

  14. I love this new station becuase its doesn’t play stupid hip hop songs that all sound the same(power 94), it doesn’t over play every good song until you hate it(the peak), it doesn’t play mushy boring songs(100.7) and it doesn’t play oldies that only 80 year olds can rock to. and finally gay old bend oregon has some good music!yeah!

  15. Wow, finally a radio station that gets me to unplug from my mp3 player!

    What I like so far:

Huge, eclectic mix of music that includes some pop, some new, few old, some metal, some reggae/funk, etc. etc.

Because of the varied selection, if I don’t like the current song, I know I’ll probably like the next one.

Sort of like walking into a cool record store, always hearing something new and different.

Obviously the DJ’s love music, and spend a lot of time digging deeper than most to show us great sounding music.

I even like the Johhny Cash song I heard. Never in a million years would I think I’d write that sentence!

Local, non-obnoxious ads – and not after every 2nd song.

No one talking over the music.

No annoying DJs – If I want talk radio, I’ll switch to AM radio. Yes, CJ can be funny, but I’m listening to MUSIC, not Bob & Tom.

The station comes in loud and strong, even in Terrebonne and points beyond.

Local, local, local, local. Yea. I like this.

    What I don’t like:

Haven’t found anything yet. Just crossing my fingers that enough other people in the area like this, and that 92.7 stays around for a long, long time.

  16. Seriously, folks, this radio station sucks. It makes me sad to see so many people excited about music that is 10-15 years old (and older). So now the grunge-lite garbage of the mid-90s to present is the new classic rock? Ugh.

General rule about people: Their music taste tends to get stuck in college. So many mooks who were in college 10 years ago now love this station. So sad.

There is TONS, TONS, TONS of great music being made today, and we get a radio station that claims to be "Local. Independent." playing Nickelback and Stone Sour and Alice In Chains. Gimme a break.

  17. It’s headed in the right direction. In a way, I agree w/Anonymous about new music out there. But there were awsome bands 10-15 years ago that blow today’s stuff out of the water. They never made it to the general public, or MTV THANK GOD!!! (I’m 37 , have seen tone of 80s/90s alternative/punk bands, grunge, etc. and always looking for new stuff to listen to.)

  18. 92.7 is the best in central Oregon. No, we DO NOT want CJ the DJ. What a knucklehead he is. Woodman and Sassy would be a plus. That’s not going to happen.

  19. Yeah, New is always good. Although alot of the "classic rock bands" that anonymous is talking about are still making great albums. Did they classify Pink Floyds first album in the 60’s as classic rock in the 70’s? Let me guess Anomymous your a 19 year old garage band lead singer who’s mommy thinks your a musical genius.

  20. It’s perfect for the generations that majoritize this area. Most of the people that live in bend, in my opinion listen to a bit of a different sound, whatever it is. I think 92.7 is covering most bases so far…

  21. FINALLY a decent radio station has arrived in Bend. I haven’t used my IPOD in the last few months thanks to this radio station and I don’t have to stream 107.7 The End from Seattle any longer.

Although, I did have to send an email to 92.7 complaining that I heard AC/DC and a hip hop song the other day. No butt rock and no rap, please, we already have stations that play that sort of music around here.
