The news has been bouncing around today, but the first link I saw today is the Bulletin’s: Redmond to get Phoenix-Mesa flight in October.

Allegiant Air announced today that it will begin weekly, nonstop service from Redmond Airport to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, starting Oct. 24. Flights will depart Monday and Friday from Redmond at 12:20 p.m. and arrive in Mesa at 2:45 p.m. local time. Return flights will depart Mesa at 9:10 a.m. local time and arrive in Redmond at 11:35 a.m. Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is about 40 miles southeast of Phoenix.

Finding out that the airline options out of Redmond is expanding is always a good thing. I don’t think it’ll be as big an "opening" as Allegiant’s Las Vegas flight, but it’s cool nonetheless.
