I rode my motorcycle to Bend from So. OR this weekend to meet some old Alaskan friends. Not only was the only hostel (found on on hostel.com) in town actually a McMenamin’s hotel, but the best food we were able to find for something barely resembling affordable was at a chain restaurant, Typhoon! Two thumbs down on the Bend scene. We jumped ship after 24 hours and headed back to Ashland, where we have affordable food, homeless hippies (aka real hipsters, not single-speed riders) and even a few people of color too!

A Subway downtown is a good thing. Too many Subway-like businesses downtown is a very bad thing. See the "Best of the East side / Costco" thread.

I like the idea of another restaurant opening downtown that offers lunch. I never did eat at the Blue Fish even though it was on my list.

I’m really sad about Bluefish closing. It was our special occasion spot…we have gone their every Christmas Eve for the past 4 years, among other times. I think it’s great to see filled spaces downtown, but Subway? I think there could be better.

I had no clue Bluefish closed (walked by there on my way to Pita Pit on Monday). I am glad, as a downtown employee, to get more fast food/cheaper lunches downtown as an option. As you know, the other day, our lunch was slooow at some place and when you’re short on time, it’s nice to have quick options.

So what if business close. At least Oregon, a Blue State, can boast of a higher-than-national minimum wage the Democrat state forces upon businesses.

Heck – who needs jobs in Oregon anyway.
