More Pickin’ and Paddlin’: Sweet Harlots

I ran a press release before on the Pickin’ and Paddlin’ Music Series: the free, live music concert held on select evenings on the bank of the Deschutes River. It all takes place at Alder Creek Kayak & Canoe at 805 SW Industrial Way #6; from 4 to 7pm there are free boat and gear demos on the river, and from 7 to 9pm is the concert—all free to attend.

Of course, donations are encouraged for the Bend Paddle Trail Alliance, but that’s not too much to ask for a free concert.

Wednesday the 29th, the Sweet Harlots will be playing. There’s a press release after the jump.

The enticing Sweet Harlots continue the Pickin’ & Paddlin’ Music Series on the east bank of the Deschutes River, Wednesday, July 29.  Based in Bend, the band’s enchanting mix of cello, mandolin and Laurel Brauns’ haunting melodies make for a magical evening on the river. Brauns describes the band’s sound as: “that moment just before twilight in high summer when the sound of railroad trains in the distance mix with the gentle tinker of wind chimes.” For more on the Sweet Harlots visit www.laurelbrauns.com.

The Pickin’ & Paddlin’ Music Series features live music from 7:00 to 9:00pm, as well as the chance to try kayaks, canoes, paddles and other gear on the Deschutes River. Admission is free, and the whole family is welcome. Donations to the Bend Paddle Trail Alliance are encouraged, and Silver Moon Brewing’s new Epic Trail Ale will be available for adult consumption (proceeds to BPTA).

From 4:00 to 7:00pm, representatives from top paddle sports companies such as Eddyline Kayaks, Esquif Canoes, Swift Paddles, Bending Branches and Aquabound Paddles will will be available for free demos and to answer questions. Alder Creek Kayak and Canoe’s fleet of 50 demo boats will also be available, with staff on hand to help.
