Music notes

Yes, the title of this blog post is a pun. I apologize. Just some odds and ends relating to the local music scene.

→ This Thursday, the 27th, the Staxx Brothers are coming to Silver Moon Brewing, and I have a press release in my inbox that claims with baited breath that they will "have you dancing in the streets." (I’ll run that press release in full later.) Be there by 9pm. Cover is (as yet) to be determined.

→ In addition to Ghostwriter playing at Silver Moon on Saturday the 29th, "local super rocker kids We Are Brontosaurus will be opening for Ghostwriter this Saturday, August 29th." As always, it’s a 9pm show (and the cost is TBD).

→ In September the band "Los Tikkilyches are bringing the latin-surf-funk-rockin’soul-reggae fusion from the south to the north on their summer/fall 2009 tour!" On the 10th they’ll be at The Summit Saloon (starting at 9pm, cost TBD) and on the 12th they be at Silver Moon (also at 9pm, with a $5 cover).

→ September 6th, Silver Moon hosts The Courteous Rudeboys at 9pm. That’s Labor Day weekend, should be a good "last hurrah" to enjoy beer and live music before school starts.

→ Want more Labor Day music goodness? The Source reports that the second Moon Mountain Festival—the Moon Mountain Ramblers very own music festival—is a two-day event up at Elk Lake Resort and is free. (Camping and lodging is not free, however.) It’s hard to beat that.
