Tomorrow (Friday, August 14th) at 7pm, Backporch Coffee is hosting a free event: We have a free event tomorrow (Friday, Aug 14th) at 7pm at Backporch Coffee. We’re showing short films by local filmmakers and will have live music by the city bus driver, Dennis Alan. No further details, but it sounds pretty cool—and free Friday night events are always nice.

This weekend—starting tomorrow, actually—is Wine by the River, a wine festival featuring "wineries, chocolatiers, restaurants, entertainers and artists" and taking place at Riverbend Park Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th. It’s put on by Partners in Care, and the intent is a good one: Partners In Care Wine by the River’s purpose is to bring awareness to the growing end-of-life needs for children in Central Oregon. Found over on the blog Jack and Mrs. Elliott Move to Bend: rumors about happenings in the Minnesota building downtown that houses Marz and Astro Lounge, among others. First, Chocolate e Gateaux has not has his lease renewed. The shop will be shuttered by the end of this coming weekend. The awning is already down. The rent at Marz is said to have been raised 28%.
