Halloween Happenings: Historic Haunts and Edgar Allan Poe

The Des Chutes Historical Museum is presenting a couple of great Halloween-themed events that span the next few days (actually one started today, the 27th, and runs through Saturday the 29th, the other, the 29th through Halloween): Historical Haunts of Downtown Bend, sort of a Heritage Walk for buildings with ghost stories, and An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe, sort of a goth storytime theater (or so it sounds).

Historical Haunts of Downtown Bend
October 27-29
Thursday, Friday and Saturday
4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Join Museum guides for one-hour walks through downtown Bend to hear ghostly tales associated with six downtown buildings. Walks are offered on a first come, first served basis starting at 4 p.m., 12 tours offered per night. Cost is $10.00, children 12 and under and Des Chutes Historical Museum members are FREE. Tours begin at the Des Chutes Historical Museum and end at the Tower Theater. Please dress for the weather.

An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe
At the Old Stone Church
October 29-31
Saturday, Sunday and Monday
8:00 p.m., special 4:00 Monday Matinee

Edgar Allan Poe returns with more tales of remorse, lost love and bad behavior. This annual fundraiser for the Des Chutes Historical Museum is one of a kind. Tickets are $10.00 in advance, $12.00 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the Des Chutes Historical Museum; event takes place at the Old Stone Church, 157 NW Franklin Avenue.

I don’t know exactly which buildings get the historic haunt treatment, though I wouldn’t be surprised to see some or all of them on this list I blogged a few years ago.
