Ladies Of Elk’s Continues Christmas Charity Tradition

The Ladies of Elk’s, the auxiliary organization for the Bend Elk’s Lodge #1371, is continuing its 30 year tradition of providing toys to needy families this holiday season. The Ladies of Elk’s began in 1949 as the Wives, Mother’s, Sister’s, and Widows of Elk’s Lodge members. Their goal is to support the community through donations to several other non-profits in town, scholarships to local students, and providing toys to underprivileged children in the Central Oregon area.

This year the Ladies of Elk’s, starting the Monday after Thanksgiving have placed holiday colored houses in different stores around town adorned with tags for gifts for each needy child. Along with the Bend Elk’s Lodge, they are putting together close to 300 baskets of food and toys for families. They are looking for help from the community to help fulfill the requests. There are toy houses and tags available in the following stores: Wal-Mart Bend, Wagner’s Mall, Cascade Bank South Branch, Ray’s Food Place on Century Drive, Sentry Market, and C.J. Lovejoy’s. Keep filling them, as LOE members will be picking up unwrapped toys in these locations until the week of Christmas. The toys, and food baskets, are all delivered Christmas Eve Day.

With the help of the local community the Ladies of the Elks have brightened Christmas for thousands of children in the Central Oregon Area. All the information regarding the Christmas Toys Program is available on their website: www.bendloe.org.

The Ladies of Elk’s would like to thank Toys for Tots for all their assistance in helping provide Christmas for those less fortunate in the Central Oregon Area.
