FIRST Team 753 – High Desert Droids is Central Oregon’s only high school robotics team. Students from all three high schools in Bend currently participate in this program. It’s open to all high school students in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson Counties. The club is non-profit and entirely supported by donations from the community. The annual operating costs are $26,000. The students work together to design, build, and program a unique robot to perform specific tasks in the spring, and take their creation to tournaments around the Pacific Northwest. More information at www.team753.com.

Disclaimer: I’m an adult mentor for the team. If you want to help some smart kids learn some tech wizardry too (even if it’s just showing them the “right” end of a screwdriver to hold), let me know!
