McMenamins 8th birthday

McMenamins Old St. Francis SchoolThis weekend is McMenamins Old St. Francis School‘s eighth birthday, and they are celebrating today and tomorrow with live music, food and drink specials, and more!

Tonight the music starts at 7pm and features the Freak Mountain Ramblers as part of McMenamins’ Great Northwest Music Tour; tomorrow music kicks off at 6pm with Downhill Ryder and then the FMR take the stage again at 7:30.

And there are some further details on Facebook:

Silly Lily will be facepainting and making balloon animals in the Main Pub from 4-8 on Saturday. We’ll be serving up some birthday cake in Father Luke’s Room during our live music on Friday and Saturday evenings.

It’s hard to believe it’s been eight years already! I remember when they opened—and the anticipation and lead-up to finally getting a McMenamins location here in Bend—and back then they were only the fifth brewery in  Central Oregon and it was big news for them to come to town. And they’ve been going strong! Congratulations on eight years, and let’s raise a (pint) glass to many more!

Update! And there is a special beer on tap for the birthday celebration as well: Ocht Bock.

The number 8 in Irish is Ocht. This is important as the Old St Francis
School is celebrating its 8th (ochtu in Irish) anniversary. This beer
was made as a traditional style bock with rich malt flavors and
mellow hop presence. A lager yeast strain was used for this cold
fermented and conditioned beer. Tones of sweet malt fist cross
your palate which then meld with the earthy and spicy sense of
hops. A low hop bitterness lets the chewy roundness of the malts
complete the drink. A great medium bodied yet strong flavored
quaff for the warming of the soul on any occasion let alone an
anniversary celebration! Slainte!
Malts: Best Munich, Best Pilsen, Briess Aromatic, Thomas Fawcett &
Sons Rye 70/80, Baird’s Crystal 135/165 and Baird’s Chocolate
Hops: Nugget, Tettnanger and Sterling
OG: 1.062 TG: 1.013 ABV: 6.3 IBU: 25 SRM: 18
