Thanksgiving meal alternatives

(And Christmas is just around the corner!)—and if for whatever reason you’re not finding yourself enjoying a meal with friends or family, or you’re just not feeling like pulling together a big meal, there are some alternatives to look into.

Broken Top Bottle Shop has a Vegan Thanksgiving Dinner this Sunday the 18th from 5 to 8pm:

Tickets must be purchased in advance and available at the Bottle Shop for $28 for adults & $14 for kids under 12.

A portion of the proceeds go to VegNet Bend, a vegetarian support group promoting compassion for the earth and all creatures who share it.

McMenamins Old St. Francis School has their annual Thanksgiving Buffet on Thanksgiving day (the 22nd), from noon to 6pm; reservations are required and you can call (541) 382-5174 for those:

$27 adults; $16 kids 5-12; free for kids 4 and under

The Pine Tavern has a special Thanksgiving Dinner menu featuring a variety of entrees (including the traditional turkey dinner naturally) ranging from $19 to $28 in price. You’ll want to call or make a reservation online to reserve a seat I imagine.

Izzy’s Pizza—which I’m sure more than a few of you just said, “Whaaaat?”—will have their Thanksgiving dinner all day from 11 to 7, and feature a menu including “Brined & Smoked Turkey, Corn Bread Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Turkey Gravy, Yams, Sweet Potato Scones, Pumpkin Tarts…and items from our famous Dinner Buffet” all for $12.99 per person (or $19.99 to take home a meal for two).

Sunriver Resort has Thanksgiving dinners open to the public at two of their locations:

3-course plated meal with all of your Thanksgiving favorites. Cost: $39 per adult, $19 children ages 6-12, children’s menu available for ages 5 and under.

Thanksgiving Dinner at the Great Hall
Thursday, Nov 22 | 2:00pm – 7:00pm
If you favor a bountiful buffet, come join us in the Great Hall for the dining experience of the year. We’ll have all your Thanksgiving favorites, plus an assortment of delectable Northwest dishes. Reservations required. 36-hour cancellation policy. $42 adults; $21 children 6-12; complimentary for children 5 and under.

Brasada Ranch Resort has a “Ranch style” Grand Thanksgiving Buffet taking place from 3 to 8pm:

Enjoy a true feast for the senses. The Ranch’s very special Thanksgiving feast includes buffet and multiple live stations prepared by Chef Adrian Carpenter, highlighting our local farmers, foragers and purveyors.

Awbrey Glen Golf Club‘s restaurant (which is open to the public, you don’t have to be a member) has a Traditional Thanksgiving Feast featuring an expansive menu with lots of options.

Crossings at the Riverhouse will be open on Thanksgiving. They will offer turkey, ham and combo plates starting at $21.95. Their regular menu will also be available. To make a reservation call 541-389-8810 or view the menu online details here.

If you’d rather have dinner catered than go out, Tate and Tate Catering has a special Thanksgiving menu you can order from (I can attest they make excellent food); it needs to be ordered by Monday the 19th to be ready for Thanksgiving day.

Barrio also has a “Hassle-Free Thanksgiving” catering menu for $20 per person which offers up a  nice change from the traditional Thanksgiving meal, with items such as pork carnitas, turkey romesco, yam paella, and more. Just download and print out their order form and drop it off in person at Barrio downtown (you’ll need to pre-pay).
