Friends of Music Concert

Want to hear some good music Saturday  night? Friends of Music is putting on its fourth annual “For the Love of Music” benefit. Proceeds go to funds for Summit High School’s music department to help with such needs as uniforms, travel expenses, student scholarships, and instruments.

What’s on tap for the evening,  you ask? How about a little group called 3 Leg Torso? I had never heard of them, but their “About” on Facebook  sounds intriguing.

“3 Leg Torso formed in 1996 as violin, cello and accordion trio with the mission of creating original modern chamber music for their unique instrumentation. Over the following years the band has expanded both its musical mission and its size to become a quintet that now performs its eclectic synthesis of chamber music, tango, klezmer, latin and world music.”

Summit’s own Skyliner Jazz will be performing as well so it promises to be a fantastic evening of music that you won’t want to miss.

Doors open at 6 with “a lovely reception featuring some of our best student performers as you treat yourself to a delectable selection of desserts and a variety of fun raffle prizes to bid on.” The main events begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door but can be purchased in advance for $15 at Tate & Tate, Miller Lumber, C.E. Lovejoy’s and Bendticket.com.

It all takes place Saturday, January 26th at Summit High School in Bend.
