Bend’s newest bar, The Dogwood Cocktail Cabin, opened up this past week in the former Astro Lounge space downtown at 147 NW Minnesota (not to be confused with the Astro’s current address of 939 NW Bond). This so-called “farm to shaker” bar specializes in house infused, culinary cocktails and hails out of Crested Butte, Colorado. (This is their second location.)
According to The Source, they will be “offering a globally-inspired menu of small plates and an ambience that is both a throwback to Bend’s logging past and a nod to hip, nostalgic repurposing.” I’m assuming the small plates will be different then from their Colorado menu, featuring a soft pretzel, mac and cheese, pickled vegetables, cheeses, nuts, and tostadas.
Sounds like a good addition for downtown and it’s nice to finally see that former Astro space being used again. And, their Facebook page already lists live DJ/music for next weekend, so hopefully they’re off to a good start.
