Pine Tavern PT81 Beerfest Challenge

Pine Tavern PT81 Beerfest Challenge

Pine Tavern PT81 Beerfest ChallengeThe Pine Tavern restaurant hosted their inaugural PT80 Beerfest last year, and IPA challenge with many of the local breweries, and this fest returns again for their PT81 taking place next week, Tuesday, September 27!

This year the style focus is on Pale Ales, and the event will run from 4 to 8pm. It’s a beer fest, and for $15 you’ll get a pint glass and eight tasting tokens (you can purchase more). Once again, people will be able to vote on their favorite for the People’s Choice award, and also there will be “official” judging (of which I am one) for the main prize.

Last year’s event was a lot of fun, and I expect this one to be moreso (as well as bigger). Come on out!

The details are in the press release below:

The Pine Tavern Restaurant and Bar in Bend will host their second annual PT81 Beerfest Challenge on September 27, 2016 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. The event includes a beer garden, food, and judging for a signature Pale Ale for the Pine Tavern. Sixteen Central Oregon breweries will be competing for the best Pale Ale and judged by local celebrities and the public. The aim of the competition is to select a winning beer and brewery, and celebrate and recognize the craft beer industry in Bend. In addition the Pine Tavern Restaurant and Bar will serve the award winning beer known as PT81, as its signature Pale Ale for the year of 2017.

The coveted PT80 award in 2016 was given to Silver Moon Brewing for the best IPA and Wild Ride Brewing took home the People’s Choice award. “The staff of Silver Moon was ecstatic to take top honors at last year’s PT80,” said James Watts, Owner of Silver Moon Brewing. “The timing was absolutely perfect for the community to try our new IPA 97, which has quickly become one of the fastest growing IPA’s in the Northwest. Being associated with the recognition and tradition of the Pine Tavern over the past year has been incredible exposure for the Silver Moon brand. We hope to defend our title at the PT81 this month.”

The competition will highlight the submitted beers in a blind tasting and a panel of judges will deliver an independent, neutral and expert verdict on the craft beers. This bestows a high level of recognition upon the participation in the competition thereby giving recognition to the craft brew industry in Bend, the prize winning product, and their producers.

There will be signature food items from the Pine Tavern menu and a beer garden on the patio where the participating breweries will serve their samples to the public. Event proceeds will benefit The Humane Society of Central Oregon. For more information and a list of participating breweries visit pinetavern.com or https://www.facebook.com/PineTavern.
