Not a fun way to start the new year: The Summit Saloon and Stage in downtown Bend announced today their sudden closure. They posted the news on Facebook:

Dear People of Bend,

It is with heavy hearts that we announce our closing effective immediately. Unsuccessful lease negotiations and economic factors combined to force this decision.

It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve this community for the past ten years and we will go on with many cherished memories of guests that became friends and family.

We wish everyone the best and thank you all for your business over the years.

And, they posted the letter on the door downtown.

Sorry to hear about this. It’s a good location and a nice space, and definitely takes away from downtown to lose the business there.
