The Deschutes County Fair starts today

Today is the first day of the Deschutes County Fair, which runs through Sunday (the 1st). In addition to the usual livestock and agricultural and craft showings, and carnival rides, there is also the rodeo and a number of concerts that culminate with Weird Al Yankovic (!) on Saturday night. Working Wonders is closing, Oct. 4

As many have probably heard, Working Wonders Children’s Museum in the Old Mill District is closing, effective October 4th (Saturday, October 3rd will be their last day). They weren’t able to meet their fundraising goals (some $200,000, I heard on the news), and the overall model apparently isn’t financially viable. Saving Grace Children’s Festival

This Saturday, July 18th, is the 21st annual Saving Grace Children’s Festival (also called the Cascade Children’s Festival) down in Drake Park. The Festival is presented by Saving Grace (formerly COBRA), with proceeds going to benefit the organization.
