From “Brewgrass” to “Ohio Surf Rock,” Bend-based songwriter Mark Ransom creates and performs music with an original style: acoustic groove-rock in thrall to the mystery of jazz. Joni Mitchell, ’70s Funk, The Allman Brothers Band, Paul Simon and the Grateful Dead can also be counted among its influences.

Ransom is a versatile acoustic performer and storyteller. The lyrical depth of his work floats melodically over familiar rhythms — complementing overtones beyond the pop-song. Song themes visit snowy seclusion, real friends and the experience of human emotion.
