The Shakespeare in the Park series is one of the benchmark cultural events in Central Oregon. Lay It Out Events and Portland’s Northwest Classical Theatre Company are again bringing the Bard back to Bend and Sunriver for three brilliant performances of Shakespeare’s most farcical comedy: Comedy of Errors
One of the Bard’s earliest plays, Comedy of Errors hinges on the ripe premise of identical twins separated at birth whose paths cross to knee-slapping effect. (Sound familiar? The 1988 film Big Business, starring Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin, is based on this story.) Puns, word play, and slap-stick humor come together to create one of the world’s most entertaining and wild stories of mistaken identity.
