Quick Bites: Miyagi Ramen and Washington Dining & Cocktails

Miyagi Ramen Tonkotsu

Just a quick post to mention a couple of new-to-me places I’d eaten recently, and enjoyed.

Miyagi Ramen: I had lunch with friends at Miyagi, located in the Box Factory. I’d noticed this opened up over the summer and when I would drive by (around the noon hour) there were always lines out the door, standing room only. Fortunately this time of year we got right in. I had the Tonkotsu (“Chashu Pork Belly/Nori/Pickled Burdock Root/Bamboo Shoot/Soft Egg/Scallion”) which was very good (and pictured above, after I already dug in). It’s a little bit hole-in-the-wall-y, which adds to the appeal.

Some nice touches: Thermal carafes at the counter offering samples of the spicy miso broth as well as tea. $2 cans of Sapporo beer during happy hour.

Washington Dining & Cocktails: This is in Northwest Crossing and has been open several years, but we’d never been. My wife and I had dinner there last week and both enjoyed it quite a bit. I had the Seared Sea Scallops, my wife had the Fried Chicken Sandwich, and both were delicious—though be aware the printed menu at the restaurant was a bit different than what is online. The scallops came with polenta, rather than frites for instance.

Service was good and the food was quick, especially on a Friday night. Recommend trying it out if you’re on the westside.
